I am a lecturer in the Global Languages and Cultures program at the California State University
Channel Islands, where I teach both upper and lower division courses. I was born and raised in
El Salvador and emigrated to Canada with my family in the 80’s where I obtained a Masters in
Spanish Literature from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. I was then admitted to
the University of Southern California and was awarded a Ph.D. degree in Hispanic Linguistics.
I have taught at a variety of universities and colleges in the Los Angeles area prior to beginning
my position at CI. My main areas of interest include second language teaching methodology and
the use of new technologies in the classroom.
I have taught at CI since 2005, almost since the beginning of the university! It has been a very
rewarding experience to see it grow and develop.
I look forward to learning with you and from you.
